LESS than a year after playing for Littleton, Evesham-based Matt Smith has signed a two-year professional contract at a Football League side.
The 21-year-old 6ft 6ins striker has sealed a deal at npower League One side Oldham Athletic.
Smith, who scored nine goals in three games for Imosports Midland Combination Division One outfit Littleton at the start of the season, has become Oldham manager Paul Dickov’s first summer signing.
The former Evesham United Juniors forward will begin pre-season training at the Boundary Park club on June 28.
This will be two weeks before he graduates from the University of Manchester with a degree in international business management.
After his spell at Littleton, Smith went on to score 23 goals in 27 games in Blue Square Bet North for Redditch United, Manchester-based Droylsden and then Solihull Moors.
He said: “I’m looking forward to it. I would love to break into double figures for the number of appearances in the first team next season.
“It’s fantastic. I’m delighted with the outcome. I’m going to take every game and every day as it comes.
“A two-year deal shows there is a big level of interest in me.
“It gives me a great deal of confidence.”
