JUNIOR FOOTBALL.

Eckington Juniors u9s 6, Welford u9s 0.

ECKINGTON Juniors u9s consolidated their position at the top of the Evesham Ambassador League with a comprehensive victory.

They braved the elements on a bitterly cold day as they entertained Welford at the Recreation Ground.

Welford made a spirited start, forcing Eckington goalkeeper Dan Holland into a smart early save.

Eckington started to take control of the game as their flowing football was rewarded with two goals from Noah Hart. A third from Ben Oliver just before half-time.

Eckington started the second-half strongly.

But Welford battled hard in the freezing conditions as Eckington continued to pile on the pressure throughout the second period.

Eventually, Max Brothwood extended the home side’s lead and an own-goal from an excellent corner put Eckington 5-0 in front.

Oliver finished the scoring for Eckington with his second of the game, this time smashing in a long-range effort into the top corner.
