THE Girls’ ‘B’ Division of the Cotswold Floorball League proved to be a close affair.

St James played neatly but could not get the ball in the net, however hard they tried.

Against St Davids, the Moreton goalkeeper kept goal well, but her forwards could not find the target at the other end.

Molly Brunsdon put St Davids ahead, but it was not until Ellie Peach’s lofted shot struck home that the result was put beyond doubt.

Shipston’s forwards soon found their range against St James, Charlotte Peckover netting a hat-trick before Olivia Godfrey added the final touches to a 4-0 win.

CCS started slowly against their Campden neighbours, then eased to a 6-0 victory. Harriet Wiltshire, Georgia Clark-Groves and Laura Fisher each scored twice.

CCS also registered a 6-0 win over St Davids, Clark-Groves again finding the target twice, as did Elisha Aspillaga. Harriet Wiltshire and Flavia Kropf each scored once.

The closest match was between CCS and Shipston. Aspillaga put CCS ahead, then the team lost their shape, allowing Shipston to dominate.

Peckover netted twice within a couple of minutes and the score stayed that way with three minutes to go. Aspillaga drew the side’s level. With just 10 seconds left, Clark-Groves worked her way clear of the defence and sent the ball high into the net for the winner.

The deciding match for top seeding in the play-offs featured St Davids and Shipston.

Saints seemed to be well in control, going 2-0 up through Peach and Brunsdon.

Morgan Payne was fielding everything in the Moreton goal and only succumbed to a barrage of shots which allowed Olivia Godfrey to tuck in the rebound.

Normal service was resumed and St Davids claimed the direct route to the quarter-finals where they join holders St Catharines.
