Droitwich 3, Littleton 0.
LITTLETON’S 11-match unbeaten run came to an abrupt end in the mud of Droitwich, when they crashed to a defeat in Midland Combination Division One. Although the margin may be a little harsh, there is no doubt that the hosts deserved their win.
The visitor’s best chance came in the first minute when Joe Lolley fired over the bar. The rest of the first-half was played in midfield with Littleton’s defence holding firm against their opponent’s forwards.
The second-half saw Littleton kicking down the slope and gradually working their way into the game.
In the space of five minutes they had two loud appeals for penalties denied. The first came when Lolley, put clean through, was brought down, but the referee waved play on.
The breakthrough came on 70 minutes with a cross-shot from 20 yards. The second goal was not long delayed and there was a element of luck as a shot took a deflection and looped over the keeper into the net.
Littleton then threw men forward but never really looked like scoring.
Droitwich added a third in injury-time following a quick break.
The reserves maintained their unbeaten league record for the season with a 3-0 home win against Future Legends, with goals from Ryan Scott, Kyle Holder and Ryan Cantrell.
On Saturday, both Littleton teams are on County Cup duty. The firsts are home to Bredon and the reserves away to Washford Lions (both ko 1.45pm).
