Broadway Youth u10s 2, Eckington Juniors u10s 3.

ECKINGTON Juniors u10s travelled to Broadway Youth with their unbeaten record under serious threat.

Broadway were fiercely competitive from the start as the game flowed from end-to-end.

The visitors missed an early penalty and Broadway were quick to capitalise by taking the lead.

Eckington were feeling the pressure and it was affecting their finishing. Josh Fendt hit the woodwork twice, chances went begging and Broadway held their deserved lead until early into the second-half.

Eckington finally found their scoring boots and, in an explosive burst, they took a grip on the game, smashing in three goals from Fendt, Jack Green and a tremendous drive into the top corner from Lucas Colbourne.

With Eckington 3-1 up, they tried to control the game but Broadway’s fighting spirit always made them dangerous.

Both sides continued to attack and the goalkeepers performed well.

Broadway scored in the last few minutes to finish off a fine game with Eckington hanging on.

Drakes Broughton Wolves u12s 0, Evesham Panthers u12s 5.

EVESHAM Panthers started brightly with some lovely football and plenty of chances being created from both wings but just lacked the final delivery.

Midway through the first-half, Sam Beddoes took advantage of a great ball through midfield to take a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Evesham stepped up a gear in the second-half after making a couple of changes on both wings.

Drakes rarely threatened the Panthers’ defence of Connor Armento, Josh Lewis and George Guy.

Beddoes scored twice again after some good from Jack Rogers and Taylor Munro on the left wing.

Bradley Izod dominated the right wing and linked up well with Harry Smith and Josh Lima for him to grab Evesham’s fourth.

With two minutes left, Beddoes took advantage of a poor goalkick to grab his side’s fifth.

Evesham United u16s 4, Southam United u16s 2.

AFTER an even opening 15 minutes, Southam produced the first action with a lobbed shot finely saved and tipped onto the crossbar by James Hathaway.

Southam took the lead via a Elliot Parasmo header.

Evesham then picked up the pace and a Matt Bodin shot went just over the bar. Evesham pressure soon paid dividends with a brilliant Connor Drury goal headed in off the crossbar from a Bodin corner.

Bodin was then to score a goal of his own, bursting through the Southam defence to head into the net off a Ryan Houlihan corner.

Evesham’s Josh Frankham’s shot almost hit the net just before half-time but the Southam goalkeeper stood strong and cleared well.

The visitors equalised through a Charlie Wood header from a corner.

The hosts fought back again to regain their lead with a goalmouth scramble in the Southam box, but Southam broke away and Sam Steele blocked well. A powerful Southam free-kick was then saved by Hathaway.

Evesham were to have the last action of the game with a late flurry of attacks with a superbly-struck effort from Zac Brant to score.

An excellent Brant cross for Olly Burness to coolly head into the net sealed a 4-2 win.

Evesham United Juniors u11s 4, Ombersley Falcons u11s 0.

EVESHAM United Juniors cruised into the third round of the Mercian League Cup with a convincing win at home over a spirited Ombersley side from Division Two.

The game got off to a great start after only two minutes when Will McGarr attacked a Ombersley goalkick, playing the ball out wide to James Morrow who crossed in first time Charlie Smith then cleverly flicked on to find Edward Whittaker at the far post, who nodded in.

The second-half saw some positional changes for the Juniors and they paid off straight away.

McGarr made himself a goal out of nothing by closing the Ombsersley defender down on goal.

The subsequent rushed clearance went in off his outstreched foot. Within a minute, McGarr was back on the scoresheet, this time from an inspired break by Sam Whyley, running the length of the pitch.

He beat a number of players before cutting in on the byline to play a square ball to McGarr who scored from less than a yard out.

The fourth goal was an excellent move with Bassi playing the ball down the line on the right to man-of-the-match Whittaker.

He looked up and played a great crossfield ball to Whyley who was steaming into the box from the left. Whyley took the ball first time, side-footing into the bottom corner.

Pershore Town u13s 2, Sheppey Swifts u13s 3.

SHEPPEY Swifts leapfrogged into second spot in Ambassador Evesham League Division One with an impressive victory against a battling Pershore side.

Swifts’ stand-in goalkeeper Brett McOrmish was called into action early on, rushing out to foil striker Jamie Wall as he bore down on goal.

At the other end, a counter-attack by strikers Ollie Brothwood and Dan Evans was undone by a timely tackle from Pershore’s Rob Shepherd. From the resulting corner, Max Lowe saw his effort rise over the bar.

Pershore went ahead on 15 minutes when lively winger Dan Thomas capitalised on hesitancy in the Sheppey defence to slot the ball past the keeper.

But five minutes later Sheppey were on level terms.

Brothwood outstripped the Pershore defence as he chased the ball down the right wing before delivering a cross for Evans to tuck into the net.

A neat exchange of passes between Swifts’ Zak Ambrose and Brothwood resulted in the latter forcing a splendid save from keeper Luke Wall.

But Sheppey took the lead on 25 minutes following a corner.

Evans drilled the ball low across the Pershore area and Lowe met it at the far post to hammer home.

Cavan Ryan was unlucky not to score when his shot rattled the underside of the bar before being scrambled away by Luke Wall.

But he made no mistake a few minutes later, lobbing the keeper from the edge of the penalty area to make it 3-1.

Pershore hit back and scored within 60 seconds through Jamie Wall.
