Stourport III 1, Badsey Ladies 4.
BADSEY Ladies continued their good form with another excellent victory on the road in Worcestershire League Division One. In contrast to the previous week in their 5-3 win over Tenbury, they had a flying start when they took the lead in the first five minutes after Nicky Beasley picked up a loose ball in the circle and slotted it past the stranded Stourport keeper. Badsey were unable to capitalise on this advantage and started to lose their rhythm as the home side settled and began to pose an attacking threat of their own.
However, the Badsey defence collectively had a good game.
Great goalkeeping and some strong tackles ensured that Stourport were unable to get on equal terms, until Badsey keeper Rachel Leeming was finally beaten by a short corner shot to the roof of the net just before half-time.
In the second-half, Badsey were a more potent force and began to play around their opponents. This extra pressure paid off when they were awarded their first short corner, from which Fiona Jordan scored with a superb strike. Gradually, Badsey began to take control of the game in midfield with Kay Amphlett and Beasley both having excellent games.
They went further ahead following terrific work on the right from Laura Moore who passed the ball in for Karen Robinson to steer into the net. Almost immediately, Badsey sealed the game with another great short corner shot from Jordan. The home side tried to regroup and increase the pressure on the Badsey defence, in no mood to give further goals away.
More terrific shot-stopping by player-of-the-match Rachel Leeming denied Stourport.
