Alveston Colts u13s 3, Badsey Rangers u13s 6.

BADSEY Rangers created four good chances but Ryan Attwood was denied by a fine display from the Alveston goalkeeper.

With Badsey on top, it was a surprise that Alveston scored with their first attack.

Badsey went looking for an equaliser and, after a last-ditch foul on Attwood, Nathan Bolland fired in the resulting penalty.

Shortly after Bolland played in Attwood to score. A minute later a sweeping move including Bolland, Tom Benfield and Attwood saw Will Farrell net at the far post.

Just before half-time, Bolland finished off a scramble in the box to make it 4-1. After the break, Alveston were a different side and, after a fine move, pulled a goal back.

Bolland then picked the ball up in the midfield and his forward pass found Jordan Nailor, who squeezed a shot against the post. However, Benfield followed up to score.

With the game now stretched, chances came at both ends and it was no surprise when Alveston scored again with yet another fine strike. The gloss on Badsey’s win was provided with a stunning chipped goal by Aaron Jelfs.

Evesham United Robins u12s 6, Gotherington u12s 1.

GOTHERINGTON should have been 1-0 up after the start, but for goalkeeper Josh Rogers making a good save. Evesham then settled quickly into the game with Joseph O’Hara and Edward Bagley getting control of the defence. Evesham pushed forward and were rewarded with a goal, Bradley Izod making use of a defensive mix-up. Thomas Backx quickly followed with the second.

The hosts were on top with some lovely passing and Ben Ainsworth, Dominic Taylor made it 3-0. Full-backs, Jack Rogers and Tariq Lamb played well with the former making a goal-line clearance. Just before half-time, Evesham scored two quick goals from Izod and Jake Humphries to make it 5-0 after good work from James Noble. After the break, Gotherington came out more determined and scored a good headed goal. Harry Jacobs, with Evesham’s Jack Starky and William Warren were made to defend deeper. But it was Ben Ainsworth who had the last word scoring Evesham’s sixth to finish the game. Ilmington United u9s 0, Badsey Rangers u9s 6.

BADSEY Rangers continued their winning ways, controlling the game from start to finish, against an Ilmington side, who were determined and who never gave up despite relentless pressure.

Badsey created numerous chances in the first-half through good tackling and passing moves created by a dominant midfield of Charlie Haines, Scott Davis, Harry Castle and man-of-the-match Ray George.

A goal finally arrived, scored by Jake Edwards, who neatly slotted home.

The half-time 1-0 scoreline would have been far greater if it was not for the Ilmington goalkeeper who produced a number of fine saves.

The second-half belonged to Badsey whose domination was increased through the defence of Ed Waller, Mat Farrell and Joe Cook pushing forward at every opportunity. Five more goals were scored, two from Scott Davis one with each foot, and one each from Ray George, and also newcomer Cameron Greenlees, who swapped the goalkeeping gloves for a run outfield.

The goal of the game by Cook, who intercepted a poor clearance to run forward and rifle a low shot into the corner of the net. Sheppey Swifts 1, Tewkesbury Colts 2.

TWO goalmouth errors, a string of missed chances and a brilliant display of goalkeeping from Tewkesbury’s man-of-the-match Freddie Downes combined to knock Sheppey Swifts out of the Evesham Ambassador League Cup at the first hurdle.

While Sheppey had the majority of possession and attempts on goal, the visitors had the determination to fight back after going a goal behind early in the second-half.

Sheppey’s Ollie Brothwood went closest to breaking the deadlock midway through the first-half when his volley from Max Lowe’s free-kick rebounded back off the post.

At the other end, Lowe was on hand to clear off the line after Tewkesbury’s Kieran Dyson prodded a loose ball towards the net.

As the half drew to a close, Sheppey were in the ascendency and Brothwood and Cavan Ryan both saw goal-bound shots palmed away by Downes.

The second-half was just two minutes old when Sheppey took the lead. Brothwood’s teasing cross was only partly cleared into the path of Ryan whose shot was blocked by a defender.

Danny Tustin picked up the loose ball and as his lob looped off the bar, Brothwood ran in to nod home.

But five minutes later Tewkesbury were back on level terms. Sheppey’s defence failed to deal with Jake Rhodes’ in-swinging free kick and Dyson bundled the ball home.

Sheppey had chances to restore their lead with Brothwood, Dan Evans and Ryan all having shots well saved by Downes, the best from Brothwood.

But the home side were made to pay for the missed chances five minutes from time when Tewkesbury snatched the winner with a copycat goal to their first.

Sheppey’s defence failed to clear Rhodes’ free-kick and Dyson was on hand to prod the ball into the net.

Evesham Panthers u12s 3, Pershore Town u12s 0.

EVESHAM Panthers continued their winning streak with a victory over Pershore Town.

It took a while for both teams to get going but Evesham started to take control in the last five minutes of the first-half when Taylor Munro played in Jack Rogers on the left-hand side.

Rogers converted his shot in the top right-hand corner of the goal to go in at half-time with a 1-0 lead.

Evesham continued to press hard in the second-half with both teams having chances.

Josh Lewis made a superb tackle in defence to deny the opportunity for Pershore to equalise.

Midway through the second-half there was some good football played in midfield by both teams. Harry Smith pushed upfield and scored after being played in by Rogers.

Evesham’s Harry Jacob delivered a excellent ball into the box for Smith to head in and grab his second goal of the game.
