IN the final Powerman World Series event of the year in Seri Manjung, Malaysia, Evesham-based Michelle Parsons produced yet another podium position to finish the year placed seventh in the world rankings.

Parsons’ third place in the Malaysian events finishes her season on another high having podiumed in almost all the international long distance events started in 2010.

The race started with an 11-kilometre run and Radka Vodickova of the Czech Republic stormed into the transition area after the first run in just over 40 minutes. Second was Sweden’s Camilla Lindholm.

Parsons was back in third, trailing by just over a minute having completed the run in 41 minutes 35 seconds.

She looked to be able to catch the leading group of two but put a significant amount of time into the fourth and fifth-placed chasers so that with just the final 11k run to go, she was five minutes clear of Rachel Smith from New Zealand (fourth) and Samantha Spong of South Africa in fifth.

After the final run, Vodickova won the event, finishing in a total time of three hours one minute 57 seconds.

Lindholm was second in 3.03.05 and Parsons third in 3.12.48.
