LITTLETON Bears and Wyre Wanderers have started the new Evesham and District Table Tennis Division Two campaign where they left off last season.

The Bears took last year’s title on games difference and both teams have made an unbeaten start to the season with nothing separating them so far.

The reigning champions’ season started with a 9-1 against Bengeworth 49er’s followed by wins against Bengeworth Red (10-0) and Littleton Giants (7-3).

Both Paul Bruner and Malcolm Dewsbury got maximums in all three matches to give them a 100 per cent average so far this tern.

Wyre Wanderers’ season started with a 7-3 win against Bengeworth Green which was followed by two further victories against Littleton Panthers 9-1 and Bengeworth Sharks 10-0.

Both Graham Briscombe and John Buxton got maximums in all three matches and join Bruner and Dewsbury at the top of the Division Two averages.

Wyre Barbedwyre are currently in third place, one point behind the two leading teams having won two of their opening three matches.

They started the season with a 5-5 draw against Bengeworth 49er’s and followed up that result with wins against Bengeworth Red (7-3) and Bengeworth Green (6-4).

Mike Moore got himself a maximum against Bengeworth 49er’s while Eric Lane got himself a maximum against Bengeworth Red. The pair were denied a second maximum of the season after both lost to Alex Gretton of Littleton Giants.

Littleton Panthers and Bengeworth Red have both had a disappointing start to the new season, as both currently remain winless after their match ended in a 5-5 draw.

Bengeworth Sharks prop up the league table having lost their opening three games.
