WITH alot at stake in the last race of the county series, Bourton Roadrunners performed brilliantly, securing a number of personal bests and county gold medals at the Tewekesbury Five Mile.
Mike Smith led the way after a battle with Lewis Grey to secure the men’s county champion title and second vet 40 on the day, with a respectable 27 minutes 34 seconds.
Grey was second junior with a pb of nearly a minute in 27.48.
He also secured third in the county series at 17 years of age.
Connor Shoemark and Ewen Smith performed well with times of 29.27 and 29.48. Smith with a pb.
Sarah Harper was in fine form recording 31.53, her best in two years.
Improving Nigel Firth came in just ahead of Beth Pudifoot in 35.30, while the latter was first junior lady.
Jan Short secured county v50 series gold, with a brilliant four-minute pb of 36.42. It was great to see Ali Lane back after a year out injured and was delighted with a fine 37.25.
Liz Hulcup finished a fine season to be crowned v55 champion, as did Susan Hunt to be the v40 series winner.
The men are County open series champions and the ladies veterans team claimed the county series title.
Other finishers on the day included Darren Long 31.43; Niamh Shoemark 36.11; Shirley Creed 38.37; Rachel Griffin 39.03; John Gibson 39.04; Chris Bence 40.47; Lyn Hudson 41.52 and Gill Carrick the club’s new chairperson in 43.27.
