THE retiring captains of Feldon Valley Golf Club presented a cheque to Shipston Home Nursing at their annual general meeting. Club captain Mark Taylor, lady captain, Amanda Glanvill, seniors’ captain, Paul Machell and junior captain, George Paish, had all chosen this local charity for their fundraising efforts during their captains’ year.
They gave its representative a cheque for £8,770.51 encompassing the total of all sums raised by the members at events held during the year.
Dr Chris Thorogood, chairman of the Trustees of Shipston Home Nursing, was delighted to receive the cheque. This amount was in addition to over £4,500 raised in the early autumn by a golf day held at the club in aid of Shipston Home Nursing.
Dr Thorogood warmly thanked the captains of Feldon Valley Golf Club and all its members for supporting this charitable cause, which allows terminally ill patients in and around the Shipston, Kineton and Wellesbourne area the choice of receiving hospice care in their homes right to the end of their last few precious months of life.
