STRONG winds at Arden Sailing Club made for some interesting action for the nine particpating boats.
With stand-in officer of the day David Bowen setting a four-lap course, the race started on time with the boats all fighting for wind and water with Ralph Evans (Solo) going across the fleet on starboard.
This caused a few quick tacks to clear his way, which gave Stuart and Caroline Stephen (Enterprise) a chance to get some clear space and breakaway.
Meanwhile, six of the boats all arrived at the first buoy together calling water, and Malcolm Colledge watched as the other sailed past.
Further down, Alan Salerman and crew Robin Evans (Enterprise) hit the caravan buoy and had to complete a penalty turn, which allowed the fleet to catch up.
He then went around the distance buoy the wrong way and had to unwind and completed the buoy in the correct direction.
This meant he ended up at the back of the fleet. Overall results: 1 Stuart & Caroline Stephen (Enterprise); 2 Keith Stevens (Comet); 3 David Bryden (Heron); 4 Ralph Evans (Solo); 5 David Stephen (Laser); 6 Malcolm Colledge (Comet); 7 Alan Browning (Solo); 8 Alan Salerman & Robin Evans (Enterprise).
