EVESHAM UNITED put up a strong performance, losing 1-0 away to first-placed Yate Town, who remain undefeated at home this season.
The weather made the game hard on both sides, as Storm Bert raged on, both teams were forced to dig in to see out the game.
Evesham received the first chance of the game, with Levi Steele receiving the ball from William Owens on the wing, before firing his early chance just wide.
Yate Town responded quickly with a two good chances in quick succession from Ross Stearn and Will Christopher - both also fell wide of the mark.
To top off what was a first half deadlock, Reegan Messenger broke through for Evesham, and looked like he could put the home side ahead, before also putting his shot off target.
As the second half kicked off, Yate Town looked to take control of the action.
Soon after the whistle blew, Ross Stearn went down in the penalty area - the referee waved away appeals from the home side.
The game appeared to return to a deadlock following the penalty appeal, with both sides failing to break through and defences on top at either end of the pitch.
Ultimately it took 56 minutes of action for the sole goal to come. Yate skipper - Joe Guest - headed in a cross from Lloyd James, which beat Alex Harris in the Evesham net.

Harris did well to ensure the league leaders didn't double their advantage, saving the chance that followed the goal from James Byrne.
There was a brief moment of madness deep into the second half, when Jordy N'Gathe brought down a Yate player just in front of the dugouts. An ensuing scuffle saw N'Gathe go into the referee's book.
In the final minutes, Theo Jeremy broke through for Yate, calling Harris into action again, who forced the player to miss the target under significant pressure.
An impressive performance saw Evesham unlucky to not pick up a point on the road against the league's most in-form side.
They maintain their playoff-place position, sitting in fourth-place on 27 points.
Next Saturday (November 30), The Robins return home to play a struggling Falmouth Town side.
