Andy Merrick was crowned President's Cup champion for the second year running at Inkberrow Bowls Club.

The club's outdoor season, which saw major improvements to the green, culminated in the annual championship finals, where Merrick secured the cup with a 23-13 victory over Liz Yeates.

The trophy is awarded each year to the winner of the mixed singles.

However, Yeates did not leave the finals weekend empty-handed, being crowned the ladies' singles champion with a 23-12 win over last year's winner, Geraldine Slater.

The men's singles title went to Ian Humphray, who beat club captain Len Phillips 21-14 in the final.

Humphray now qualifies for next year's Worcestershire Champion of Champions competition.

Merrick also added to his trophy tally when he teamed up with Angela Webster and Phillips to win the mixed triples final.

Jill Nash and John Bradley took the mixed pairs title.

Alan Slater, the club's president, said: "We're a friendly club that welcomes new bowlers and complete novices.

"Our short mat season starts at the end of the month and runs through the winter on Wednesday mornings and Friday evenings."

The trophies will be presented at the club's annual awards lunch in November.
