Evesham United will travel 243 miles for their furthest away match of the season as they take on Mousehole AFC.

The Robins will visit Cornwall on Saturday, August 10, for their first match of the 24/25 Southern League South Division One season.

The sides last met in February, when Mousehole ended the Robin's unbeaten start to 2024 with a 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham Road.

Micky Brennan, chairman of Evesham United, explained the difficulties that such a long trip can have on the club: "We, as a club, have extra costs for hotels and coaches.

"It is becoming very expensive to run non-league teams these days, and without a great committee who excel in raising funds we wouldn't survive."

Evesham started their season with a 1-1 draw against Newcastle Town in the FA Cup on Saturday (August 3).

Newcastle took the lead in the 31st minute with a goal from Tom Jones, before Ethan Moran brought the Robins level nine minutes later.

The two sides were locked in a stalemate until full-time, with a replay on Tuesday (August 6) in Staffordshire.

Mousehole received a bye in the extra preliminary round, playing a final pre-season friendly against Plymouth Parkway instead where the Seagulls lost 2-1.

Pershore Town's next league match will be a much shorter 34-mile trip to Hereford to play Westfields FC on Tuesday (August 6) before welcoming Sporting Club Inkberrow on Saturday (August 10).

The Plums' exit from the FA Cup on Saturday (August 3) to Kidsgrove Athletic will fuel the squad to pick up their first win this season.

Danny Janes, Pershore Town manager, said: "I can't argue with the result based on chances created throughout the game.

"We gifted them two goals and gave ourselves a huge task in what was already a very difficult challenge.

"We now head into a really important week with two league fixtures.

"The players need to be ready to go and to maximise every minute."

Like Pershore, Sporting Club Inkberrow were knocked out of the FA Cup in the extra preliminary round by Dudley Town.
