A young boy from Evesham has been crowned the Regional Open Water Champion 2024.
Milton Xavier Yau, 12, had success at the West Midlands Regional Swimming Championships earlier this year at Sandwell, Birmingham.
But now he has been crowned Regional Open Water Champion 2024 for the West Midlands.
Mr Yau, who already holds five regional titles, won the 1,000m race in an impressive 13.50.23.
This was the youngsters first time at an outdoor competition, marking his transition from indoor to open water.
Mr Yau, contending in the 11/12 age category, faced 20 opponents from regions up and down the country including the South West, East Midlands and West Midlands.
The event took place June 23, at Lake 86, Cirencester.
Mr Yau trains at both City of Coventry Swimming Club and Evesham Swimming Club and expressed his gratitude towards the clubs and his coaches for their unwavering support.
