EVESHAM United were left frustrated by bottom side Paulton Rovers on Tuesday night as they missed the chance to cement their spot in the Southern League Division One South play-off places.
Paulton, who are bottom of the pile after Hamworthy United pulled out of the league, defended in numbers and dug their heels in, but The Robins had their chances to win the game.
Amer Awadh and Levi Stele both came close in the first-half and Ethan Moran had a shot tipped onto the bar by Paulton's brilliant keeper Frankie Phillips in the second-half as the hosts were denied a victory.
Evesham remain fourth but are just one point inside the play-off places, with a number of sides outside it lurking dangerously behind.
Manager Mike Ford agreed that is was a frustrating evening: "We created a host of opportunities and their keeper made a number of really good saves.
"Our data tells us we had 14 shots and 10 of those were on target. It was clearly a game we dominated, as we should have done, and we should have won it.
"But you have to credit the opposition. However, we didn't hold the ball up the pitch as well as we should have done and we did not create as much sustained pressure as we wanted to.
"Football is all about putting the ball in the back of the net and we didn't manage to do despite the chances and that was obviously the key tonight."
Evesham are back in action next Tuesday night when they make the trip to Wimborne Town (March 19, 7.45 pm kick-off).
