ETHAN Moran scored with 12 minutes to play to secure a point for Evesham United against an in-form Yate Town side on Saturday.
Yate came to Worcestershire on the back of a 10-game unbeaten run, which had seen them move out of the relegation zone and towards the play-off places.
They looked set to make it seven wins from 10 when Oliver Jenkins scored 19 minutes from time, but Moran's brilliant equaliser seven minutes later meant the game ended all square.
The first chance of the game came on 25 minutes when Yate's Jenkins brought a fine save from Ben Taylor in the Evesham goal but nothing came from the resulting corner.
With just four minutes of the half remaining, Evesham’s leading goal scorer, Levi Steele, tried an audacious lob from 35 yards out but didn’t quite get enough on it and the back-peddling Aaron Sainsbury in the Yate goal managed to claim it.
The second half started with Yate on top and Nick McCootie found himself through on goal on the left-hand side but he dragged his shot off target and two minutes later, Jenkins’ shot from the edge of the area was brilliantly saved by Taylor again.
But Jenkins finally beat nemesis Taylor in the 71st minute when the ball dropped to him from a corner and he fired the ball into the roof of the net to give the visitors the lead.
This forced the home side to attack and they were rewarded within seven minutes when Moran picked the ball up on the edge of the Yate penalty area and curled a 20-yard strike into the bottom corner.
Neither side were able to find a winner and the points were shared. The Robins stay in the fifth and final play-off spot, whilst Yate stay one-point adrift in sixth.
