PERSHORE Town put a disappointing couple of weeks behind them with a morale-boosting 4-2 win in the first round of the Marsh Challenge Cup.
Having suffered back-to-back defeats in the Hellenic League Premier and being dumped out of the Worcestershire Senior Cup, Pershore managed to pick up a first victory in four games in all competitions on Tuesday night.
Jyrel Bojang's second-minute header gave Pershore the perfect start but Lewis Thompson fired home to equalise before half-time.
Steve Webb put Pershore back ahead after the break with a tidy finish after Josh Willis had played the ball to him at the back post.
Lydney once again pulled themselves level as a free-kick on half-way beat everyone and somehow found the back of the net, much to the frustration of the Pershore coaching staff.
But ten minutes later they were smiling again as Jake Donnelly, recently returned from Worcester Raiders, headed home from a Willis Corner and substitute Alfie Bloomer made sure of the victory late on with a first-time shot after more good work from the impressive Willis.
