CORSHAM Town went level on points with Hellenic League Premier leaders Worcester City after a nervy 3-2 win at Pershore Town on Saturday.
In a chaotic end to the first-half, Scott Hammond and Josh Willis scored either side of Niekell Plummer making it 3-1 to give the hosts some hope ahead of the second-half.
Both sides had chances to score after the restart but in the end, Corsham held on for a vital three points as they seek to try and chase City down.
They are level on points with Chris Cornes' side but have played three more games and continue to play catch-up.
Since losing their top-of-the-table clash with City, Corsham had responded with back-to-back league victories ahead of their trip to Pershore.
And they made a brilliant start to the game as Lea Harrison found the bottom corner with a low shot past Eddie Cox, who so nearly saw a back-pass almost creep into the bottom corner moments later.
Corsham did go 2-0 up in the 23rd minute through Kane Simpson's brilliant finish but Pershore got themselves back in the game when Willis found the top corner from the edge of the box four minutes before the break.
But the visitors restored their two-goal cushion a minute before the interval when Simpson's unselfish square ball provided Plummer with the easiest of finishes.
As the game moved into stoppage time at the end of the first-half, Willis tucked back onto his left foot before curling an effort inside the far post to once again reduce the deficit to wrap up a thrilling 45 minutes of action.
There were some opportunities for Pershore to grab a point, none more so than when Willis fired over from close range in the 82nd minute, but Corsham managed to see the game out and take the three points back down south.
