THE ROBINS suffered a heart-breaking loss on penalties after a tight game in the Isuzu FA Trophy.
Bashley FC are through to the second qualifying round of the competition after beating Evesham United 8-7 on penalties.
A solid first-half performance from Evesham saw an impressive start and several chances to open the scoring.
A goal was ruled as offside after Levi Steele mistimed his run, but the disappointment did not last long when Steele opened the scoring at the 25th-minute mark.
New signing Felix Miles, who came to The Robins on a month-long loan deal a day before, launched a ball into the box for Steele to convert into the bottom left-hand corner.
Amer Awadh had an opportunity to increase the tally but fired the ball over the bar shortly after.
After halftime, Bashley were the dominant side, creating a lot of chances early on.
After 15 minutes, Kaya Tshaka found the back of the net to level the scoring, beating Evesham keeper Jack Copland.
Despite Evesham fighting for the winning goal, the game went to penalties after a competitive match.
The shoot-out saw five misses and 15 goals, with the game ending 7-8 to Bashley.
The match had an attendance of 158.
