PERSHORE Town's Sean Brain scored twice in a thumping 5-1 win on Saturday as Lewis Marston celebrated his first competitive win as manager in the second game of the Hellenic League Premier season.
The Plums drew 0-0 with Worcester Raiders on the opening day and are now up to four points from six after their demolition of Lydney.
Brain and James Baldwin had the hosts 2-0 up before Tristan Murphy pulled one back for Lydney ten minutes from the half-time whistle.
But Brain added a third five minutes after the restart and Ben Johns' brilliant strike made it 4-1 with half an hour to play.
Bulgarian Petar Tonchev then broke into the Lydney half before entering the box and rounding the keeper to slot home and complete the rout six minutes later.
The win puts Pershore into third in the table - one game in hand on league leaders Worcester Raiders - ahead of Tuesday night's trip to Cinderford Town (19.45 KO).
