THE former Worcester City manager Ashley Vincent has been appointed the new first-team coach at League One side Cheltenham Town.
Vincent, who was City boss between 2019-2020, has been with Cheltenham for the last two seasons involved in the youth set-up and has now been promoted to first-team coach ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The 38-year-old knows the club well having played well over 100 matches for The Robins during two stints with the club.
He now links up with manager Wade Elliot, alongside new assistant manager Kevin Russell as Cheltenham prepare for another year in England's third-tier.
Upon his appointment, Elliot said to Gloucestershire Live: "Ash is a no-brainer. We were looking for someone who knows the club, knows how we work, but over and above that he's a really good coach.
"I am pleased to have it all boxed off. The timing of it, two weeks before we go, is really good.
"First and foremost, he's a first-team coach. The bulk of the responsibility is going to be around the first team, but he'll link in with the academy. He obviously knows all the players, the staff and the club, so it makes a lot of sense.
"The message it'll give to the players and everybody around it is that we are starting to ramp it up now. This business time. Pleased with everything, personnel and timing. A little bit less for me to do now!"
