KYLE Belmonte scored twice from the spot as 10-man Evesham United came from 2-0 down to beat league champions AFC Totton and take the final remaining play-off spot on a dramatic final day of the season.
The visitors scored twice in the opening 20 minutes to leave Evesham looking down and out and matters were made even worse when Alfie Dunn was sent off right on the stroke of half-time.
Belmonte’s first from the spot came five minutes into the half when William Owens’ cross was handled and the Evesham striker equalised 20 minutes later when Owens was pulled down in the box for penalty number two.
Goaals elsewhere went Evesham’s way and the 10 men held on for a draw that ensured they took the final play-off spot in dramatic circumstances.
It was a fast start from the champions and after sustained early pressure, they took the lead as Wright curled a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.
The visitors were enjoying plenty of possession and Evesham were chasing shadows and ten minutes later, Day was allowed to carry the ball deep into the box before striking a low left-footed shot into the far corner to double Totton’s advantage.
The home side looked shellshocked and struggled to create anything meaningful, with Kyle Belmonte’s tame shot comfortably held by Totton’s Mack Allan.
William Owens curled a corner onto the top of the bar but that was as close as The Robins came and in first-half stoppage time, Connor Whiteley and Dunn both went for a 50:50 ball on the edge of the box and the Evesham man was shown a straight red.
Despite being a man down, Evesham made a positive start to the second-half and they were handed a lifeline from the spot when Owen's cross was handled in the box, Belmonte stepping up and smashing it into the bottom corner to make it 1-2.
There were few chances to speak of but goals elsewhere meant that Evesham were back in the dirving seat and the mood around the stadium was even greater when Owens was fouled in the box for the second penalty of the half for the hosts.
Owens was felled in the box when through on goal and Belmonte once again stepped up and made no mistake to level it up.
Results elsewhere meant that a draw was enough but Evesham went and completed the turnaround in dramatic fashion as a scrambled goal crossed the line.
