EVESHAM United were held to a 0-0 draw on Saturday as the two play-off rivals shared the points in front of a large crowd at New Cuthbury.
Over 500 were in attendance to see if either of the promotion hopefuls could make a real surge towards the post-season play-offs, but it was a cagey game with little goalmouth action in the end.
There were only three shots on target in the match and Mike Ford's Evesham side could only manage one but the point keeps both in the hunt.
Evesham remain outside the play-off places but are only a point off Bashley in fifth position. Wimborne remain in fourth, just three points ahead of Ford's side.
With The Magpies and The Robins both coming into the game on the back of two clean sheets, it was hardly surprising that clear-cut chances would be at a premium.
Jez Bedford's volley on goal from the edge of the box was saved by Ed Brearey and Evesham's only real effort of the first-half came from Kyle Belmonte, who could only curl wide of Shane Murphy’s far post.
Just before the break, Dan Bartlett tested Brearey from 25 yards but the Robins’ shot-stopper produced another good diving save to turn the ball for a corner and that was about it for the first 45 minutes.
The Robins were proving a tough but to crack and they continued to look solid defensively without really testing home keeper Shane Murphy but Charlie Wise showed clever feet with a deft overhead from Adam Mace’s cheaply won free-kick on the hour mark to force Murphy into action.
But that was about as good as it got for the visitors and it was not much better for the home side in truth.
Harry Baker flashed a header over the bar from Bartlett’s cross and Ed Brearey made a couple of good stops but the game was always destined to finish all square.
A point each means Wimborne stay fourth in the table, whilst Evesham remain just outside the play-off spots in seventh, but only three points separate the two sides.
