EVESHAM RFC had to make do with a losing bonus-point after they came agonisingly close to beating Worcester on Saturday.
With just one win in the Regional 2 West Midlands division in the 2022/23 campaign, Evesham’s hopes of surviving relegation are fading fast but a win on Saturday would have helped their cause but the 24-21 defeat leaves them second-bottom and 14 points adrift of safety.
It was also the second time Evesham have come close to beating Worcester this season, having been edged out by a single point back in October in the reverse fixture.
It was another close call this time around but they had to settle for the single point that does end a run of three games without one.
As for Worcester, they ended a six-game losing streak to stop their freefall towards the bottom of the table.
After six matches, they were second in the division but are now down in eighth after finally finding a much-needed victory.
It was a weekend where the weather conditions made playing rugby all the more difficult and that caused some surprising results.
Wolverhampton beat the in-form Malvern to end the visitors’ nine-match winning run.
