EVESHAM United's FA Cup campaign faltered at the first hurdle last weekend as Hinckley LR punished an error-strewn display to come from behind and seal their spot in the next round.
Kyle Belmonte's third minute opener was cancelled out after a mistake from Robins' keeper Isaac Parry handed Andre Williams the chance to lob in an equaliser nine minutes later.
Williams doubled his account for the afternoon just after the hour mark as another defensive error was punished by the visitors.
Ben Whitehead came the closest for the Robins but his goal was ruled out for a foul and the away side held on to secure their place in the hat for the preliminary round.
After the game, manager Mike Ford said his side "were not good enough".
"For long spells, we were second best, we could not keep the football," he admitted.
"We seemed to lose it too much and then they stuck it on us and we could not cope with the long ball.
"To take the lead so early was obviously a good start but then the two goals we conceded were so poor.
"I thought they were better than us but we showed a desire to get back into it late on and they kept going so fair play to them for that.
"But we will sit down and analyse and judge the game and assess. We won't go too over board as it was our first game of the season.
"It is disappointing and we are out the FA Cup but that's the harsh reality of football. We lost because we weren't good enough."
Ford knows there is plenty to work on and defence seems to be the main area of concern for the former Banbury United boss.
"Our biggest problem at the moment is that we cannot keep the ball for long enough," he added.
"If you have the football, then the opposition can't score. If you keep giving it to them, especially when we have people forward, then they are always countering us and that's what happened for the second goal.
"We conceded poor goals in pre-season as well but we are aware of it and we know we need to be better. We need to learn to stop the counter attack and we did not do that today but we have to take it all on board and move forward with it."
