BROADWAY Golf Club ladies came out in force to support their new lady captain Frances Friend as she hosted the annual drive-in event.
Linda Carruthers and Liz Smith received prizes for guessing just one yard either side of the 155 achieved.
Thirty-three ladies enjoyed their first competition of the year with a nine-hole stableford off both the first and 10th tees.
High winds and showers failed to dampen the enthusiasm.
Winning the front nine was Irene Hawkes who brought in 20 points to seal a clear lead.
Pat Beaman was second with 18 ahead of Debbie Donoghue on 16.
Jayne Telfer also scored 16 to win the back-nine competition.
Donations amounting to £105 were received on the day to launch Friend’s charity fund for the Children’s Air Ambulance.
Fifty-five The Vale Golf Club senior members played a yellow ball stableford competition.
The winning team on countback with 80 points was made up of Mike Lewis, Mick Hird and Peter Morris.
Rob Sharp, Geoff Brown and Mike Roberts were second followed by Ian Macrae, Martin Holland and Graham Whitehead in third with 79.
The nearest-the-pin contest was won by David Hudson.
