SHOOTING: Childswickham Gun Club has a new treasurer after Allan Clayton stepped down following 30 years of loyal service.

Clayton, who remains club secretary, has been replaced by Richard Taylor.

The meeting also saw various prizes for the 2018 season dished out with trophies handed to Sean Perry, Paul Colley, David Galbraith, Dave Andrews and Ian Holmes.

HOCKEY: Evesham & Badsey remain second bottom of West Clubs Women’s Hockey League Division One despite a courageous showing in a 3-2 home defeat to East Gloucester. 

Lydia Webster and Chelsea Southall got on the score sheet but could not prevent a 10th setback in 12 league matches to date. 

The start was delayed by torrential rain and after some promising attacks from both teams, East Gloucester seized the initiative with a first-half double. 

That deficit was halved before the break when Emma Wormersley and Naomi Marsden combined to set up Webster’s finish.

East Gloucester grabbed a third having enjoyed lengthy spells of pressure in the second half but Southall set up a tense finale by finding the net 10 minutes from time.
Webster went close to levelling at the death but East Gloucester stood firm to register victory. 

It gets no easier for Evesham & Badsey with unbeaten leaders Gloucester III the visitors on Saturday.

GOLF: Keith Round, John Scott and Ed Mountney took top billing in The Vale Golf Club's senior stableford 1-2-3.

The trio came out on top from a field of 60 members with 76 points, two ahead of Rob Sharp, Ron Andrews and Ian Cutler in second (74). Bernard Rayner, John Eastoe and Pat Fox (71) took third on countback from Mel Locke, Chris Enticknap and Murray Briscoe (71).

Nearest the pin on the 5th was Geoff Mayneord.

GOLF: Ladies captain Irene Hawkes and partner Maggie McDivitt claimed the bragging rights in Broadway Golf Club’s 16-hole foursomes challenge. 

The duo took advantage of favourable conditions to emerge victorious from a field of 12 pairs with a score of 34, seeing off the challenge of Rachel Rigg and Julia Fortescue (33). 

Elaine Hickin and Valerie Steven (32) edged into third place ahead of Linda Carruthers and Dawn Cannon (29) in what doubled up as the fourth round of the Winter League. 

Some 50 pairs took part in a match which acted as the sixth round of the men’s Winter League. 
Joe Icke and partner Peter Cockle found tremendous form, storming to victory with 44 points.

Sealing an easy second were John Richmond and Mark Magee (43) in front of Steve Jordan and Noel Hughes (42) and Howard Mitchell and Malcolm Ross (42). 

The next rounds take place later this month. 

NORTH COTSWOLD TRI AND RUN: Five personal-best times were set by members on Sunday.

Vivien D'Alton set a new standard with a time of 58.37, 18 seconds better than her previous best to cross the line as eighth female over 55 in the Tempo Winter Series 10k at Ilmington.

New member Kelsey Winter completed the Gloucester Half Marathon in 2:08 with James Dunn running the full marathon in 4.27.08.

Other members were racing in the Linda Franks 5m. First over the finish line was Kate Krywiec (31.43) to become the ffth female finisher and second-fastest in her category. 

Kerry Taylor (36.30) was 21st female and Marianne Day (38.33) was the 30th female.

The juniors were in full swing at Moreton Fire Service College Park Run on Saturday. 

Noah Williams and Reuben Long-Field achieved the same time of 29.15 with Jasper Williams finishing in 31.48.

Each ran alongside parents.

ANGLING: Mark Sparrow won the sixth round of Evesham Working Men's Club's Winter League.

Sparrow weighed in with 16.13.0 of f1’s on the maggot. Stuart Robinson (13.8.0) and Spud Taylor (13.3.0) were his closest rivals. The section winners were Bryan Townley (8.13.0) and Rick Huxley (13.2.0).

The Jim Blanch Cup was won by Huxley with 5.10.0 of roach and skimmers. Stuart Robinson had 5.4.0 of roach and Jed Bott had 3.11.0 of skimmers.

The section winners were Taylor (3.6.0) and Robin Locke (2.9.0).

ANGLING: Mark Court won Evesham Jubilee's club match on Sunday.

Court topped the list of eight anglers with 14lb 8oz from peg two. Tony Hemming was second with 5lb 14oz from peg 11.

The section winners were Chris Taylor with 4lb 10oz from peg 12 and Derek Hopkins with 1lb 3oz from peg seven.

Bob Evans (21lb 9oz) overcame snowy conditions to win the Affordable Open. Ray Nosworthy (14lb 4oz) was his closest rival with Alan Gardner (2lb 15oz) and Pete Lewis (12lb 6oz) the section winners.

ANGLING: Newbury's Dave Smith (8lb 11oz) won Shipston Angling Club's latest meeting at Honington Bridge and Fell Mill.

Second place went to Colin Barratt (6lb 03oz) and third was Barry Giles (4lb 15oz), just edging out Les Haines (4lb 14oz).
