SECRETARY James Lindner reflected on a fruitful campaign for Chipping Campden following a switch of leagues in 2018.

The Station Road outfit moved from the Cotswold Hills League to Gloucestershire County Division Three and won promotion having finished second.

Jack Groves ended the campaign as the division's top bowler with Sam Nicholls establishing himself as one of the leading batsmen.

Lindner explained: "After nearly 40 years in the Cotswold Hills League the development of the club was felt to be better suited to the tiered system of the Gloucestershire League, for several reasons including strong support from the GCB.

"We were warmly welcomed into Division Three and despite a few concerns about extra travelling, the team enjoyed playing at the new grounds and against new teams."

The seconds also moved to Cotswold District League Division Two and finished sixth out of 12 teams.

"In only its second season since reforming the seconds continue to go from strength to strength," added Lindner.

"Not only is the Dad’s Army section reigniting their cricketing careers, we also saw the first products of our recently-formed junior section reaching adult cricket. The spirit is excellent and we are looking forward to more success next year.

"The junior section continues to build on their good foundations built over the past few years.

"New co-ordinator Andy Parsons along with the rest of the committee would especially like to thank our regular sponsors as well as the generous donations from Chipping Campden Community Trust and The Summerfield Trust.

"More than ever we would welcome new players and friends to the club. Whether you are a bit rusty, a budding young cricketer, a seasoned league player or want to help out in a non-playing capacity please get in touch."
