FIVE village cricket teams from around Worcestershire’s Bredon Hill will compete in a keenly contested 20-over tournament at the weekend.
They will meet at Bredon Cricket Club, near Pershore, on Sunday, August 26, to play out the finals day of the Bredon Hill Bash.
The competition is an imaginative effort from the clubs to reinvigorate Sunday cricket among village sides.
Last year’s inaugural Bredon Hill Bash cup went to Ashton-under-Hill, who beat Bredon Cricket Club by 30 runs in the final played at the losing side's Hill Close ground.
Sunday’s matches, which will be played by all five teams, will be the culmination of a month-long round robin competition between Ashton, Bredon, Elmley Castle and Overbury cricket clubs, and a side from the Crown Inn, Kemerton. The action starts at 10am.
There will be a typical Twenty20 party atmosphere, a giant paella stall, and the clubhouse bar will be open.
Families are welcome to come along and enjoy some exciting cricket with the emphasis on fun. Entry is free
