A MAIN road into Evesham which was closed for more than a week just as work on the Abbey Bridge began, is now open.
A problem with subsidence on Worcester Road, Evesham, meant the busy road was closed last Wednesday - the day before Abbey Bridge was fully closed for 10 weeks to allow it to be rebuilt.
During the work on Worcester Road, temporary traffic lights were installed at the site during the day to ensure the area was safe for motorists and pedestrians and the road was closed fully overnight on a couple of occasions.
After a prompt investigation it was found that the road required structural repairs, excavation about a metre into the surface and surface repairs following the subsidence. Work was completed last night.
A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson, said: "We'd like to thank residents for their patience whilst these emergency works took place."
