A young swimmer from Evesham has won his fifth regional title.

Milton Xavier Yau, 11, competed at the West Midlands Regional Swimming Championships 2024, which was staged over two weekends in late April and early May in Sandwell, Birmingham.

He competed in all 17 events for the under-12 age group, earning an impressive haul of five gold, five silver, and four bronze medals.

Yau successfully defended his regional championship title in the 100 metre freestyle and also clinched victories in the 400 metre, 800 metre, and 1500 metre freestyle events, along with the 50 metre butterfly.

Following his regional success, Yau is now eligible to compete in five events at the National Summer Championships, taking place in Sheffield at the end of July.

This is Swim England's headline domestic swimming event, showcasing only the highest-ranked swimmers from each age group.

Yau is set to compete in the 200m and 400m individual medley, and 200m, 400m, and 800m freestyle events.

The young swimmer trains with both City of Coventry Swimming Club and Evesham Swimming Club.

Yau has extended his gratitude to all coaches who've guided him in his swimming journey.
