Evesham continued their promising start to the season with a dominant victory at home to Berkswell & Balsall.
An impressive second half display saw Evesham come out 60-7 winners on Saturday, October 30.
The win sees them climb to third in the Midlands Two West (South), leapfrogging their opponents.
The game was evenly balanced to begin with, Evesham holding a narrow 10-7 lead with half-an-hour played.
However, Gary Diston’s men were able to pull away as the game progressed thanks to some fine attacking performances.
Come the final whistle, Evesham has scored eight tries with Mike Harris controlling proceedings from fly-half, a player-of-the-match worthy performance.
The team will look to build on their early season success when they travel to Earlsdon this Saturday.
Last weekend proved less fruitful for Evesham’s academy however with their under 15 side falling to defeat for the first time this season.
Taking on Lichfield for the very first time, the youngsters were beaten 24-10 at Blind Lane on Sunday morning.
Lichfield used their physicality to boss the match despite claiming prior to the match they did not have a viable front row.
As such, it was agreed the match would be played with uncontested scrums.
The visitors piled on the pressure early on, requiring a few moments of magic to keep the scoresheet clean.
However, Lichfield were not to be stopped and they capitalised on one of the uncontested scrums to take a 7-0 lead.
Evesham had to work hard to get themselves back in the game, a fine team move finished off by Theo to level the score.
The momentum was with the home side however they were unable to make the most of their attacking position late on in the first half.
But it didn’t take long of the second for Evesham to score a much-deserved second, Ed picking up from the scrum before breaking away down the blind side to score.
Weather turned out to be the catalyst to Lichfield’s victory.
Aided by the wind, the visitors used long kicks to pin Evesham into their defensive corners.
Three second half tries took the final score to 24-10.
