THE intermediate and junior champions at the National Poll Hereford Show at the Moreton Show are among the elite at the Hereford Cattle Society’s autumn show and sale at Hereford Market on Saturday.
The show features the largest entry of bulls for many years, with more than 60 on parade.
However, it’s not as case of quantity over quality with many of the bulls qualifying as superior carcase sires, having taken show championships around the country in 2012.
Seven bulls qualify for the superior carcase sires scheme, established in 2010, aimed at promoting sires with carcase attributes which will enhance the value of their progeny.
The scheme is underpinned by a £500 cashback from the society to the purchaser, details of which are on the society website.
Some of the star bulls on offer include the male champion at Agri-Expo, intermediate champion at the National Horned Show.
In the female section there is a large number of excellent females being up for auction from the well-respected and highly successful Mara Hwerd from RN 7 MA Borwick, Northamptonshire.
Additionally, there are a number of prizewinners from across the country, including the 2012 Surrey County Show champion.
Catalogues are available from the Hereford Cattle Society on 01432 272057 or e-mail post room@herefordcattle.org
