A SPECIAL service was held by Moreton-in-Marsh Agricultural and Horse Show Society at St Mary’s Church, Ilmington, for the blessing of the plough, milk churn and livestock.
Half Pint the sheep made a repeat appearance this year and was on his best behaviour to represent the livestock during the blessing at the service conducted by the Rev Chris Goble and a packed church joined in hymns including We Plough the Fields and Scatter.
Local farmer Jason Brain represented the ploughman, calling for the blessing for the plough, and Ros Allen, chairman of the farm and crops commnittee, asked for the blessing of the churn and livestock.
Lynne Parkes, secretary for the farmers and crops committee, said: “It was nice to see so many people witnessing the blessing and praying for a good productive year.”
