The next walk of the Evesham Rambling Club will be on January 2 in the Alderton & Gotherington area. All welcome. Telephone 01905 840008 for details. The leaders call it their “Resolution Ramble”. Start the year as you mean to go on and join this pleasant ramble. In the morning we head up and around the west and north sides of Oxenton Hill and through a series of villages that hug its base. Hopefully we will be rewarded with fantastic views over the Severn Valley and the Vale of Gloucester before we turn east and head towards Alderton, nestled at the foot of Dumbleton Hill, where we can eat our packed lunches in the shelter of the village hall. The afternoon section begins with an easy, level section before a gentle ascent between the Oxenton and Dixton Hills and then down to the start point in Gotherington. The walk is a circular one but the venues for lunch and tea are not far apart. We can make arrangements for anyone wishing to do only the morning or afternoon section.
