THIS picture from 1972 shows pupils of Evesham High School presenting one in a series of three plays.
The sixth formers were acting in Chekov’s A Jubilee as part of the evening of entertainment.
Other youngsters presented an “eerie” play called There Will Come Soft Rains. The play was set in 2026 when only machines remain after an atomic holocaust has destroyed all human life. On a lighter note, fourth year children chose The Velvet Goat, a comic play that was warmly commended in the Journal’s report of 40 years ago.
