DESPITE bad weather, Bidford’s Big Meadow played host to more than 1,200 people and 400 exhibitors who turned out for the 2011 Vintage Gathering the weekend before last.
Organiser Mark Smith has confirmed that a donation of £1,000 will be made to the Bidford Youth Club from the proceeds of the event.
Next year, funds will be in aid of Bidford Young Firefighters and St John Ambulance.
Meanwhile, Bidford Parish Council has been successful in obtaining a grant for £7,935 from the Big Lottery Fund Awards for All to carry out improvements to the Big Meadow.
Interpretation panels for local wildlife, circular footpath map signs, waymarkers, footpath leaflets and a flagpole at the entrance of the meadow are just some of the ideas for how to use the money.
However, the council sees this as a community project and has invited the assistance and views of interested residents.
