A REQUEST from Bidford Juniors Football Club to claim funds from public parking charges at the Big Meadow for one day this summer has been declined by the parish council. At a planning meeting the council revealed the club had approached it with regards to obtaining the gate receipts arising from a football tournament on May 22. The tournament was given the go-ahead but the request for the gate receipts was denied. Bidford Cricket Club had made a similar request in the past which was also denied. Councillors said money generated by parking at the Big Meadow should be used for the community as a whole, adding that any income from the Big Meadow needed to be spent to offset the costs of maintaining it. Coun John Sandle said: “If the junior football club want to come to us at a future date and ask for a donation we would consider it as a separate matter.”
