THE Vale is bracing itself for more wintry conditions with predictions the cold snap is set to stay for another week.
Journal weatherman Paul Damari said daytime temperatures could rise to between three and five degrees centigrade but people should still expect to see sleet and snow showers at any time.
Meanwhile, the district was covered in a blanket of snow overnight Monday when between one and four inches fell across the south of England.
Residents have been warned to be prepared for icy conditions on untreated roads and pavements as the snow begins to melt and drivers are urged to take extra care.
Katy Jenkins, at the Safer Roads Partnership in West Mercia said: “Making sure your vehicle is clear from snow and ice and you have good, all round visibility is one easy step you can take to start your journey in the right way.”
Drivers are advised to consider local road conditions and forecasts before starting their journeys, clear all snow from the roof of the vehicle before driving and keep an emergency kit in the car during the winter.
