I read with interest the item on China Square, Broadway November 11.
‘China Square’ relates only to the two cottages to the left of the entrance to Springfield Lane and not to the area of the Greens outside the Swan Car Park. Before the last war these cottages were occupied, one by Nurse Bricknell the district nurse and the other by the Sollis family.
Nurse Bricknell believed that at the cottages a former resident was an amateur potter providing pottery to local shops but she could not confirm this.
If Counc Liz Eyre received a parking ticket in 1999 for ‘China Square’ she should have disputed it for she was not parking in China Square!
