KIND-hearted villagers in Norton and Lenchwick are hoping their latest charitable creation will help retain an ancient part of their parish.

The community has pulled together to produce a calendar with a difference to raise vital funds for St Egwin’s Church.

Instead of standard photographs, the pictures of village scenes have been styled as postcards which can be detached after use and kept as keepsakes.

And another feature of the calendar, which has been supplied by a resident, is the inclusion of 13 mouth-watering favourite recipes straight from the kitchens of villagers.

Local businesses have also had an input by sponsoring individual months.

The project has been completed without cost, meaning every penny raised will go to St Egwin’s Church.

Church warden, Andy Green, said: “This has been a true testament to the village community and spirit.

“Everyone has come together to play their part. The calendar really is an excellent product and has been very well received.

“It is heart warming to see the excitement this has created and everyone is talking about it. We have tried to make it affordable for everyone, with a starting price of £4 going down to £2.50 each if you order 10 or more calendars, be they for the individual, friends or family, they make the perfect Christmas present.”

The calendar can be ordered by calling Josie Witts on 01386 442534 or Andy Green on 01386 870068.

It will also be on sale at the annual Christmas fair at the village hall next Saturday which runs from 2pm until 4pm.
