A SICKLY foal was saved from a life or death situation thanks to the help of Evesham firefighters.
Crews were called on by vets at Peasebrook Equine Clinic in Little Buckland, near Broadway, at about 9.30am on Thursday (25) to assist in lifting the animal which had collapsed.
Firefighters spent an hour-and-a-half at the scene using a system of strops and lines to winch the racehorse onto its hooves.
Station manager, Dave Holland, said: “We don’t get called out very often to animal rescues but we will respond on the request of a vet or the RSPCA.
“The young foal was back on its feet and eating well by the time we left. It’s nice to work with the vets.”
