GHOST hunters could be in for a spirited encounter with some of the previous inhabitants of an historic stately home near Evesham.
Rous Lench Court, which dates back to the 15th Century, is set to open its doors to the public for the first time when it hosts a ghost walk on Saturday, December 11.
Owner Sam Thorp says she has encountered some spooky goings on during her eight years there.
“Oliver Cromwell is believed to have rested here before he went off to Worcester,” she said.
“His army are said to have rested in the park land and when the mediums had a walk around the garden, they picked up quite a few vibes.
“There have been a couple of things that have happened and I had just put it down to the house.”
Unexplained footsteps have been heard in parts of the grand house, including the room where Cromwell is thought to have stayed, and mediums have sensed the spirits of several characters – including a cook and a squabbling couple.
“It doesn’t bother me,” Sam said. “I’d be surprised if there wasn’t anything here because of the history.” For more details and to book, visit ghostlytours.co.uk.
