A GROUP of kind-hearted motorcyclists have swapped bikers’ leathers for birthday suits to raise funds for an Evesham school.
Paul and Sarah Newitt’s daughter Olivia was born with Down’s Syndrome and at eight weeks old underwent open heart surgery.
She made a brilliant recovery from her ordeal and is now looking forward to starting at the Vale of Evesham School.
So when Paul’s friends from the nationwide Yamaha XJR Owners’ Club suggested getting together for a Calendar Girls-style effort, they were more than happy to support his suggestion of raising funds for the school.
Over a couple of days, members from as far as London and Portsmouth gathered at the 40-year-old’s business premises in Cornmill Road where they bared all alongside their bikes under the guidance of local photographers Studio3 and Peter Harper Photography.
The finished result is a tongue-in-cheek but tasteful calendar that Paul hopes will raise more than £3,000 for the school. “It was just fantastic – we made a weekend of it,” he said. “I think it’s great that we can offer some support at a time when people are a little reluctant to part with their money and we had a great time doing it.”
The calendar is priced £6.99 including postage and packaging and can be bought by calling 07815 966841.
