A FAMILY from Charlton has picked up a plethora of prizes for their cake decorating skills at a competition in Birmingham last week.
Donna Saxton, together with sons James and David, aged 11 and 10, and nephew Scott, aged 13, took part in Cake International 2010 at the NEC where they picked up a host of gold, silver and bronze awards for their creative efforts.
The trio of youngsters, who go to Bredon Hill Middle and Evesham High School, all picked up a bronze award in the Junior Christmas Cake category with their first ever cake designs, while Donna picked up a gold and silver award for her airbrushed designs.
She said: “I entered for the first time last year after attending an ‘airbrushing on cakes’ course and won a gold and a Silver for my designs. I thought I’d try again this year and won a gold and a silver again. We are all very proud of our achievement and are looking forward to entering again next year.
“The children really enjoyed taking part and are already planning their designs.”
