ANYONE who has ever wondered about being a councillor can now find out with a special event at Wychavon District Council next week.
Entitled “Could I be a District Councillor?”, the event will be held in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre in Queen Elizabeth Drive, Pershore, WR10 1PT, from 6.15pm on Wednesday, November 24.
it will give members of the public the chance to find out everything they need to know about becoming a councillor, including how much work is involved; the legal requirements; the process of standing for election; and the support and services available to elected councillors.
The event is being held ahead of next year’s local election which takes place on May 5.
Sheena Jones, Wychavon Support Services manager, said: “Councillors are the eyes, ears and - most importantly - voice of their local communities, so we’re keen that as wide a range of people as possible stand for election next year.”
