ANTI social behaviour related to Halloween and Bonfire Night celebrations across South Worcestershire decreased by ten per cent on last year.

Police have hailed Operation Eureka, which sought to prevent anti social behaviour throughout October and the beginning of November, a success, with the total number of incidents down by eleven.

Halloween-related anti social behaviour incidents which covers incidents related to trick or treating, wearing of masks and items such as eggs and stones being thrown at people, fell from 66 incidents to 55. The number of fireworks related incidents saw no change, remaining at 45.

In Pershore there were five fireworks and Halloween anti social behaviour incidents and six in Evesham where there was a small increase on last year.

Operation Eureka began on October 1 and ended on Saturday. It saw police covering all organised events and upping patrols across the community.

Inspector for Worcester Janet Heritage, who oversaw the operation said: “We are really pleased that all of our planning and hard work paid off and ensured Halloween and Bonfire Night, and the days in between, were a positive and enjoyable time for all.”
