THE Welcombe Hotel and Golf Course is teeing up for a record year for corporate golf days, following the opening of a brand new clubhouse.
The £1.2m clubhouse was opened earlier this year to accommodate increased bookings by businesses, and includes a top-class restaurant and conference facilities.
Director of Golf at the Stratford course, Carl Mason, who played on the European PGA tour for 25 years, says they outgrew the previous clubhouse and wanted to offer players quality facilities to match the quality of the four-star Welcombe Hotel.
"Corporate Golf Days are our speciality and the new clubhouse is equipped to look after business people and their guests for the whole day, whether they wish to dine, have a meeting, play golf, or a combination of all three. We have the added advantage of being able to offer top-quality accommodation at the hotel."
"We have already catered for over 150 corporate golf days this year and this puts us on course for a record-breaking year," he added.
The new clubhouse, built in traditional style in keeping with the 19th century hotel, has a golf shop, bistro, lounge area and private function suites, all equipped with audio visual facilities, television, phone, fax, microphone and computer points.
The golf course has seen substantial improvements over the past few years as part of a £3m refurbishment, and now has better drainage, new tees, water features and pathways.
Mason added: "The course attracts golfers from both the UK and overseas, due to its excellent condition, beautiful setting in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside and the quality packages we offer."
The course, which was built 20 years ago, is open to individuals as well as groups, and is known as an undulating parkland course suitable for all standards, but challenging enough for experienced players.
It is planned to hold the first Welcombe Cup competitions next September which will be open to corporate teams. For further information contact the Corporate Golf office on 01789 262665.
